I’ve been attempting to write something meaningful, enlightening, and exciting tonight. However, I don’t think I can come up with much. But, I do have news! I finally bought into WordPress’ tempting little blurbs on purchasing your domain for just $18/year (it’s really around $26, if you add some security measures). I didn’t think I should buy my own domain since I don’t blog much … didn’t feel like I deserved it. And I also felt like I needed a “cooler” name. It seems like I’m never going to come up with a better name. But, I still did it and YAY! I feel super, duper special.
Confession: I bought it while at work, something I’m usually against(attending to your personal blog while at work). But, my work’s blog is linked to my WordPress username, so I naturally found myself on my personal blog. Oh well. Anyways, I remember finding myself on a beauty blog (can’t remember the URL now), of a great blogger who reviews beauty/wellness/food/etc products, one of the products being somewhere I reviewed myself for work. When I saw the blogger had her domain, there was something inside me that was like come on Nadia, you have the money. You’ll be so cool with your own domain. I also noticed that the blogger had great, consistent content on her blog, but didn’t necessarily have a ton of activity/comments on every post. That gave me more of a boost—I don’t need everyone and their grandmother on my website (not that I wouldn’t appreciate it), to have my own domain address!
I know this is really nothing crazy to dwell and get all excited on, but I feel that by having your very own website address just makes you feel more legit, for the lack of a better word, in the blogging world. I’m sure many people would disagree with me and say, “oh you don’t need a domain address to actually blog!” But, I still think it does make you feel more serious about blogging. And that’s because now you’ve taken an address from the World Wide Web, something someone else could’ve taken, and you should own up to it.
So, I’m planning on owning up to it!
